Wow !! What a great gyro. So much flavor. Fresh ingredients flavorful pork. The Stuffed Grape leaves were awesome too.
Our new favorite spot for quick, easy, and delicious takeout. Our order is always ready on time, service is great, very reasonable prices, everything is super fresh and delicious + the best Greek dressing. We’ve loved everything we’ve tried, highly recommend!
I want to start this off by saying I'm a pretty competent 22 year old that's been to, and worked at, several counter service lunch spots. We walked in, found where the line starts, and the larger menu is on the complete other side of where you'd expect it to be (nearly over the cash register, which is pretty counter intuitive if you're a first time visitor like me). I didn't blow in from Stupid Town, and I've spoken English my entire life. There was one worker who was very engaged, friendly dark haired tall girl, who seemed to sympathize and gauge that we were first timers. We asked for a gyro with lamb and falaffel, and somehow something got lost in translation or that combination had never been ordered before at a place that serves meditteranean food. While my partner was ordering, which we were doing together, I was told I could be helped by a young man that might have been fresh out of training or simply not trained properly. When I tried to ask for falaffel and lamb on a gyro, the dark haired girl had to come over and assist in the middle of taking a different order to confirm they could do the combination. I felt like I was supposed to have studied the toppings (which had no labels) and trained intensely to place an order here. I also felt as though if the first girl had started the order and we moved on to the next guy, things would have been neater and more congruent. I felt as though I had go go back behind the counter and help them through the two people in line (which was us). Somehow this was $43 with a 10% tip for two gyros only with no sides or drinks. The only reason I left a tip is because of the employee who seemed to have an idea and sense of self awareness. Pita was soft and warm, falaffel was different but uniquely great. I wanted to be constructive in my feedback, and I want this to be taken seriously, but I feel the sarcasm is owed for how much I paid. Please update the ordering system or have your staff guide the sleigh: "what would you like?" "Which protein? Of course we can do both!" "Any sides/veggies?" "Any sauce? I have this or that." "Perfect you can head over to the register?" There are millions of options in this plaza, and we chose to go here. We like spending money at small, unique, new places we've never been. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just had a bad experience enough to write my first review.
There aren’t many places on the south shore exactly like Gyro Co. They have pitas and bowls and a great selection of meats, veggies, and sauces. There are pre-set pitas and bowls as well as options for building your own meal. The food is always very fresh and the employees are working hard preparing food throughout the day. I’ve never had an experience where any item felt like it had been sitting under a heat lamp, which can happen when this many fresh ingredients need to be prepared.
The Athenian is easily the best thing on the menu. The perfectly tender rotisserie pork is stuffed into a warm pita along with French fries. I’m a sucker for any double carb situation and this pita is the king. The Thessa is also a great choice with the tangy sauce and chicken gyros. The Greek Salata is also a wonderful choice with a lot of fresh ingredients that pairs great with the chicken gyros. You can order a side of pita with a few dipping sauces, but the best one is easily the spicy feta. They also have a great selection of Greek beverages in the cooler as well as desserts such as baklava and assorted cakes and pies. I wasn’t a fan of their avgolemono soup which felt a bit underwhelming in terms of seasoning and flavor.
The staff is always pretty friendly, the portion sizes are generous, and the food is delicious. The quality is fairly consistent, but there is often a long wait. Even when ordering ahead the food can take 15-30 minutes longer. This is usually because they ran out of an ingredient and something needs to be prepared fresh, which is understandable, but it has happened several times. This isn’t every time, but it can be hit or miss when it does happen. The food is great and definitely worth it, but keep this in mind if you’re in a hurry.
Fresh! Falafel is made to order, amazing grape leaves, yummy pita and tzatziki! All food was fresh and tasty!
Decent gyros, staff was helpful and friendly, the restaurant was clean and nice. Was a little expensive but not too bad. Recommend the pita chips and olive dip.
We were shopping in the area and thought the place looked interesting and clean. We ordered a gyro and found a hair that was baked into the pita bread. We were completely grossed and almost threw up on the spot! Will never eat here again!
Dropped in this afternoon and was not disappointed... Grabbed the Athenian and the wifey had the Thessa, the gyros were on point. Had stuffed grape leaves as an appitizer and the mother in law had greek salad with chicken, all were fantastic. The staff were friendly and service was great. On the way out I grabbed the Thesse with tzatziki, gotta keep the inner fat kid happy. I'll be back very soon...
